What customers say?

“ Went based on high praise by locals. Definitely a few levels higher in quality than most izakayas around. Will be returning next time we’re in town. ”

“ 8 out of 5 stars for this place! You must go if you're looking for fantastic local food. We loved it so much that we drove here every night that we were in Hokkaido! We sampled sooo many different dishes, that I think I'm well equipped to talk about the holistic quality of the cuisine. - Sashimi, the special sampler of 6 (scallops were the most exceptional we’ve ever had- a local speciality apparently) - Full-sized grilled fish ($9 can you believe it?) - Beef Short rib - Venison meatballs - Oysters (only item that we wouldn't get again) - Pickled vegetables - Scallops (also incredible) - Pork and potato - Tofu & Mushroom Miso Soups We're so sad we can't keep going back, but we're so glad we found this place. ”

“ This is one of the best izakayas I’ve ever been to! the grilled chicken, pork, beef skewers were all tender on the inside, but has the barbecued crunch on the outside. Get the grilled meatloaf-mixture if pork and tofu-like ingredient. Should you order seafood here? Heck yeah! They source super fresh seafood from all over hokkaido..I had the mixed sashimi which was extremely fresh and delicious! Oh, and I cannot even begin to describe the sweetness of the oyster!! Creamy and exploding with flavors from the ocean!! After communicating via the google translate app, I found out that Akkeshi is a city in south Hokkaido that farms one of the best oysters in the world! It was the best I’ve ever had. Another must order is the 一夜干 (baked fish). The fish was very tender and fresh. Loved every part of the izakaya...even if they couldn’t speak English don’t worry they have an English menu. ”

“ Can’t get enough of this izakaya and all their delicious offerings. Lots of fresh seasonal produce from fish/seafood, vegetables to meat. All cooked to perfection whether sashimi, grilled or fried. Chef also has a fantastic and delicious range of nihonshu. ”

“ Impeccable experience... Exceptionally friendly family run izakaya that is unassuming on the outside but a culinary delight for your sashimi and house specialties expectations. A basic charge of 480yen applies which is equated with an exquisite appetizer. There is an English menu for the uninitiated which mirrors the Japanese menu. Daily specialties are printed on a separate board which alas is in Japanese only. House specialities are printed in bold. We had almost every bold items over 2 dinners and the standout dishes are chef sashimi platter, kaarage, skewers, shiokara, kasube salad... And oh so sweet oysters with vinegar and the scallops to die for... Highly recommended and please make reservations as it fills up pretty fast. Exceptional value for money experience. ”
